We're based on Butternut Drive in Holland and work anywhere within about 50 miles of it. That covers Holland, Zeeland, Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Saugatuck, Douglas, Fennville, South Haven, Bangor, Hartford, Allegan, Hudsonville, Grandville, Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Norton Shores, along with the townships in between.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Hablamos español. You can call, text or meet us on site in Spanish or in English — whichever you'd rather. The estimate gets explained in the language you want it explained in, and nobody has to bring a family member along to translate.

Are estimates really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We come out, look at the tree or the yard, and give you a written price. There's no charge for the visit and no obligation to book. On a straightforward job we can usually give you the number while we're standing there.

Are you really available 24/7?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A limb through a roof or a tree across a driveway at 2 AM is not something that keeps until Monday, and West Michigan storms don't check the calendar. Call (616) 218-0091 at any hour. Non-emergency work — mowing, mulch, cleanups, design — gets scheduled during normal daytime hours.

Should this tree be trimmed or removed?

Accepted Answer

It depends on how much of it is dead, where the damage is, and what's underneath. A tree with deadwood in the canopy but a sound trunk is usually a pruning job. A tree with a split at a main union, a hollow or rotten base, fungal brackets at the root flare, a lean that's gotten worse, or one that's already dead — like most of the ash left in this area — is a removal. We'll tell you which one it is, and we don't sell removals to trees that don't need them.

Do you take the branches and wood away?

Yes, and that's included in the price rather than added at the end. Brush gets chipped, the yard gets raked and blown, and everything leaves in our trailer. If you want the trunk wood cut to firewood length and stacked instead of hauled off, say so and we'll leave it that way.

Do I need the stump ground out too?

Accepted Answer

You don't have to, but a stump left in a lawn is a mower killer and a home for carpenter ants and honey fungus, and some species will keep sending up suckers for years. Grinding is cheapest done on the same visit as the removal, since the equipment is already on site. We grind below grade so you can put sod or a new plant back over it.

When is the right time of year to prune?

For most shade trees, late winter while they're dormant — the structure is visible, there's no leaf weight, and the tree seals its cuts fast in spring. Dead, broken and hazardous limbs come out whenever you find them, regardless of season. Spring-flowering shrubs like lilac and forsythia have to be pruned right after they bloom, because cutting them in March removes the flower buds they set last year. Tell us what you have and we'll tell you when it should be cut.

How much do your services cost?

Every job is priced after we've seen it, because size, access, what's underneath, and how much cleanup is involved all move the number more than anything else. Estimates are free and written, with a flat price agreed before we start — no hourly meter and nothing added at the end.

Question 10

Can you take on regular mowing and seasonal maintenance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We run weekly and biweekly mowing routes with a set day, plus spring and fall cleanups, mulch, and leaf removal through the fall. Booking spring and fall together costs less than calling for each one separately, and it means the same crew that put your yard to bed in November is the one opening it up in April.
